In August I was fortunate enough to photograph the wedding of Louise and Richard at Shearsby Bath in Leicestershire. We were extremely lucky with the weather and it turned out to be a great wedding. The ceremony took place in a part of the building that was decorated with stone flooring and rustic looking beams. The reception is then held in a beautifully dressed marquee that overlooks rolling Leicestershire countryside. The rain stayed away and we were able to get some great shots outdoors in the garden. Louise also put on a mini sweetshop for all guests.

Congratulations to both Louise and Richard and I hope you both have a great future together!!

Today I worked with a fellow photographer Steve Holcroft who is based in Windermere in Cumbria and I had the opportunity to assist on the wedding of Darren and Louise. Unfortunatley the weather made the day incredibly wet, but it was nothing we couldn’t handle, and it did not at all spoil the day at all. The venue was a beautiful church, and the reception venue was a private national trust house that was rented out for the day just for the wedding. It made for a very beautiful day with an almost boutique feel. Check out the cake, it was thick lemon icing that made the entire room smell of citrus, it was lush!!!

Hi all,

Again, it’s been a bit of a dry spell on the photography front but last week I finally managed to get the camera out and put my new studio to the test. Below is just the first attempt at studio photography and I am really pleased with the results. I worked with Bex who was patient enough to let me shoot away to practise with the camera. As you can see, I can now deliver B&W and colour studio images. I like my images to be different for my personal projects – I hate cliched studio shots, and am aspiring to create editorial fashion photographs like what you may see in advertising campaigns in glossy mags. This style is what I like to shoot and I would like to become much more skilled in this style so watch this space for more!

I have not blogged in a while as the model work has gone quiet but I thought I’d post a quick update on my recent holiday. I spent some time in Barcelona and I thought I’d treat you to some of my holiday snaps. It’s a great city and if you get the chance to go please make time. Such a great vibe to the city. I have loads of work booked in for the coming months so be sure to bookmark the site and pop back to see what I have been up to.

Tonight I processed another batch from Cornwall and I have settled on a few more favourites. I thought this time I would post larger pictures so you can appreciate the full effect of how stunning the sunsets were. All taken with my canon 350 with the 24-70 2.8L lens which produces fantastic rich colours and sharpness. These shots were taken at Crantock and Fistral beach and take full advantage of the low autumn sunsets. I love the richness of the sky and the glassy effect of the water. The camera club would probably throw these out as some are a little dark but I’ve always been a fan of contrasty shots so as it’s my blog, I will show them! My my, 3 blogs in 2 days, I must have too much time on my hands!

This September I was lucky enough to go on a wonderful family holiday to visit my sister in Cornwall. It was great as it allowed me to see a part of the country I’d always wanted to visit, and it also allowed me to test out my landscape photography skills. We had a great week and were really lucky with the weather – clear blue skies and beautiful sunshine. The sunsets were breathtaking.

All images below were taken on my Canon SD750 point & shoot and processed through Aperture with minor tweaks that took no time at all. Images were taken at various bays in and around Newquay and St Ives. Click on the thumbnail of each picture to see a larger version. If you haven’t been I’d advise you to go!

Well for those of you who regularly stop by, you will know that I haven’t blogged in ages. Not through laziness I might add, more due to the fact that the IT department (me) has been unable to resolve several pressing hardware issues with my laptop. Well I am pleased to inform you after significant investment I am back at full power with the addition of a brand new Apple Imac 20″ so I am able to edit now with ease and produce more consistent files. Great news if you were thinking about booking a session with me! Please contact me if you would like any family portraits doing in the run up to Christmas – could be a great present!

Hello! Well I got an odd request by email several weeks ago from another photographer called Ed O’Keefe and he asked if he could critique one of my images from my recent set with Anita (see below). Ed is a keen amateur photographer based in Manchester, UK. I was happy for him to do this, and today I get an email saying my image has been given the once-over! Well it’s not too harsh, and I do agree in some ways with Ed’s comments, if I were to do it again I would fix the hat, and quite possibly I do have one with more focus on Anita’s face, but for some reason I went on to release the picture you see being critiqued. Hey folks. I’ve been quiet since the last wedding but yesterday I managed to arrange a shoot that I have been trying to arrange for the past 6 months!! I met up with Anita and we discussed ideas for the shoot and we both said we wanted some pictures with bold colours. We ended up in a corn field in Loughborough, Leicestershire and then headed off to some meadows to photograph the great colours on display. I have to say, what a great sense of style Anita has, and  she also has THE best wardrobe ever! I’d love to work with her again so we can really push our creative ideas to the max!

Hi all,

Last week I worked with another photographer Mike Patterson http://www.mikepatterson.com/, and assisted on a wedding in Galway, Ireland. This was my first ever trip to Ireland and to be photographing a wedding made it that bit more Special. To say the bride and groom were stunning was an understatement!
